Enchanting Bus Driver !!!

E
veryday on my way to college, I normally take a bus from the city train station. The bus driver is awesome. She is very talkative and since most of us in the bus are regular college students she knows us pretty well. As we get down at the college bus stop she wishes us well and even when she sees students standing on the side walk she stops the bus out of turn to pick them up. If by chance we happen to take the same bus after the classes are over in the evenings, she welcomes us on board with a broad grin and makes a point to talk to each one of us. There can be nothing more refreshing than somebody trying to cheer you up with such nice gestures. She reminds me of a bus driver 'Salim Bhai' when I was a kid and had jaundice he used to reserve the front seat of the bus for me and wait for me even when I was a bit late. He was a store house of different medical instructions and was caring and affectionate. Even today I remember vividly his burly face, rolling moustaches and stout body.

Bus driving can be a very boring profession because you are moving on the same bus route for 8 hours daily endless number of times. But in spite of the mundane nature of the task these people with their attitude add such immense value to the work at hand that the final product leads to complete customer delight. They are actually best in their class, examples to be followed, with values to be cherished. And I am completely enchanted by them. :-)

Jo mann se achcha ho naa... usey sab achchey dikhtey hain.. aur wahi dekh paata hain yeh sab choti choti achchi baatein... U r a nice human being and kind at heart and thus you notice such small gestures and they do add a smile on ur face.

Even a security guard's job looks too boring to me but still whenever they open tht door for you, they smile at you and I salute their spirit.. as do I salute ur sweet bus driver.

I might have said tht before, but its a pleasure to knw you.

At my end it was a autoriksha that used to pick us from our home and after school bring us back.....though ordinarily a auto can only have three passengers we were a group of seven belonging to different classes....

ordinarily we all had fun playing antaksari on the way back from school but summers were real fun with ice cream treat or watermelon slices from Auto uncle....

Very impressive sneha...it really shows how they enjoy their work. Also, I think, such small acts can inspire us a lot than anything else.

Beautifully written my friend :)

looks like i'm a little late here!
been a tad busy wrapping up college life so hardly been on blogger...apologies...
I remember my ricksha-walla from school...he used to come to carry us from the school gate to the rick one by one...never let anyone of us walk it to the rick ourselves...ramesh-uncle...i hope he is well...
oh and our college bus-driver, popat...we were inevitably late getting to the bus-stop...he never left anyone of us though and called up to check if we were coming before leaving the bus-stop...eventually we learned to inform him if we weren't coming, in advance, so he didnt wait at the bus-stop for 15 mins, mindless of the fact that the bus would reach late and he'd get a telling down from the superiors...fabulous guy, never let there be a dull moment in the bus, always singing and chatting...
brought back some nice memories...thank you!

Sneha said...

@ Bikram,
Apology accepted.;)
